Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre, an orphan mistreated by her aunt and cousins, endures a harsh childhood at Lowood School. As an adult, she becomes a governess at Thornfield Hall, where she meets the mysterious Mr. Rochester. Despite their social differences, they develop a deep bond, and Rochester proposes marriage. On their wedding day, Jane discovers Rochester is already married to a mentally ill woman confined in the attic. Heartbroken, she flees and is rescued by St. John Rivers and his sisters, who offer her a new life as a teacher. When St. John asks her to marry him for missionary work, Jane refuses, realizing her love for Rochester remains. Returning to Thornfield, she finds it burned down—Rochester blinded and injured while saving his wife. Jane stays to care for him, and they finally marry, building a life of equality and mutual respect.
